A short five minutes on foot is the pier where ships depart to Kizhi. The Kizhi Museum is one of the largest open air museums in Russia. This unique historical and cultural complex includes several wooden bell towers, more than 20 peasant houses, mills, barns and saunas, Church of the Resurrection of Lazarus - the oldest remaining wooden church in Russia (second half of the 14th century). The most famous is the Kizhi Pogost, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
